Managing Day-to-Day Sales Activities with Zoho CRM

Why the Home Tab Matters

The Home tab in Zoho CRM is fully customisable. It can pull live data from all your sales modules and show:

  • Your sales pipeline at a glance
  • Open tasks
  • Closed tasks
  • Overdue tasks

Think of it as your daily control panel. From here you can dive directly into the work that needs your attention.

Working with Tasks

Click on a task in the Home tab and Zoho CRM takes you straight to the Activities module, where you’ll see all the details. For example, a task might be a call-back for a potential deal. From there you can navigate to the related Potential record and make the call.

After every interaction, get into the habit of:

  • Adding a note summarising the conversation
  • Sending a quick follow-up email (use templates to save time)
  • Closing the task once it’s done

You can close tasks from either the Activities tab or directly on the related Potential’s page.

Using Mail Magnet for Quick Responses

The Mail Magnet icon in the top-right shows you recently received emails from existing customers without leaving the CRM. Click an email, respond, and, if needed, call the customer and update the related Potential with the correct amount, closing date and stage (for example, move it to “Closed Won”). Again, add a note and close the task so your records stay accurate.

Scheduling Events Like Product Demos

When a task relates to a product demo request:

  1. Click the task to view details and identify the lead.

  2. Go to the lead’s page, scroll to the Open Activity section and click New Event.

  3. Enter a subject (e.g. “Product Demo”), start/end time and description.

  4. Add a reminder so you get a pop-up or email notification before it starts.

Save the event and close the original task. To double-check, click the Calendar icon at the top-right and view your schedule in daily, weekly or monthly format.

Converting Leads Into Opportunities

After a successful demo you may be ready to convert the lead:

  • On the lead page, click Convert at the top.
  • The company becomes an Account, the person becomes a Contact, and you can create a Potential (opportunity) at the same time.
  • Choose an expected closing date, sales stage and amount.

Click Convert and Zoho CRM will link the new Account, Contact and Potential together. Your task history follows through too — just make sure to close the task after conversion.

Reviewing Completed Work

Once tasks are closed they move from your open list to the Closed Tasks section in the Home tab. You can also filter for “Closed Tasks” in the Activities tab to see a complete history of what’s been done.

Conclusion

Zoho CRM’s Home tab, Activities module and Mail Magnet give you everything you need to manage your daily workload efficiently. By adding notes, sending quick follow-ups, scheduling events and closing tasks as you go, you maintain a clear, up-to-date picture of your pipeline and never miss a step in the sales process.
